CATCH curriculum & Coordinated School health
Welcome to the Coordinated School Health page. Robert E. Lee Elementary is participating in the CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) Curriculum adopted by DISD. The focus of CSH is summed up by the MVP acronym:
M = Move and Stay Active V = Value Healthy Eating P = Practice Healthy Habits
Each 6 weeks of school has a different theme with associated activities to bring the message home. For example last year students were asked during the 5th 6 week "Friendly Friday" what makes someone a good friend. This is what they replied:

The Theme of our 1st 6 Weeks is “Moving Mondays”
CSH Activities for this 6 weeks include:
Coach and Nurse Pelfrey will be demonstrating the differences between muscle and fat tissue during Texas Obesity Awareness Week September 12-19th
Write down your “Moving Monday” Pledge stating how you and your family will be active together and return it to Nurse Pelfrey, to be entered in a drawing for a Special Spirit Stick
Friday 9/17 Marks the kickoff of 3 months to 3 miles – time to start training for the Dallas Mayor's Race on 12/12.
Start training by registering for the Healthy Harvest Fun Walk 10/25 (free to all DISD Students and Teachers)
Registration forms available at the front of the school.
Everyone is invited to bring their bicycles and join the PTA in the Woodrow Wilson Homecoming Parade's 2nd Annual Bike Brigade September 23rd

As part of the CATCH Curriculum, Dallas ISD utilizes the GO, SLOW, WHOA language.

-There are no “NO” foods – all foods fit from healthy to least healthy

- WHOA Foods are the unhealthiest foods.
